CRI SMS/Text Messaging Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: January 1, 2026

These SMS / Text Messaging Terms & Conditions (“SMS Terms”) govern text message (SMS and MMS) communications between you (“you” or “Client”) and Carr, Riggs & Ingram and its affiliated entities (collectively, “CRI,” “we,” or “us”).

By providing your mobile phone number to CRI, initiating a text message to CRI, or otherwise consenting to receive text messages from CRI, you agree to these SMS Terms.

  1. Types of Messages You May Receive

CRI uses text messaging solely for non-marketing, professional communications related to client service. Messages may include, without limitation:

  • Appointment confirmations, scheduling, and reminders
  • Administrative or service-related updates
  • Requests for information or clarification
  • Status updates related to ongoing engagements
  • General client communications initiated by you or your CRI contact

CRI does not send unsolicited marketing or promotional text messages.

  1. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your interactions with CRI and the nature of your engagement. Text messages are sent on an as-needed basis and are not recurring or automated marketing campaigns.

  1. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan. CRI is not responsible for any charges, delays, or delivery failures imposed by your wireless carrier.

  1. Consent and Use

By opting in, you authorize CRI to send text messages to the mobile number you provided using an automated or non-automated system, as permitted by law. Providing consent is not a condition of receiving services from CRI.

Text messaging is offered as a convenience and is not intended to replace formal written communications.

  1. No Confidential or Sensitive Information

Text messaging is not a secure communication channel. You agree not to transmit sensitive or confidential information via text message, including but not limited to:

  • Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, or dates of birth
  • Financial account numbers, passwords, or authentication credentials
  • Highly sensitive personal data or regulated information
  • Formal deliverables, workpapers, or legal notices

CRI may redirect communications to secure portals, email, or other approved channels when appropriate.

  1. Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out of receiving text messages from CRI at any time by replying “STOP” to any text message you receive from CRI.

After you opt out, you may receive a single confirmation message, and no further text messages will be sent unless you re-consent.

  1. Privacy

CRI’s collection and use of information in connection with text messaging is governed by CRI’s Privacy Policy, available at: https://www.criadv.com/privacy-policy/.

Text messages may be retained in accordance with CRI’s document retention policies and applicable legal requirements.

  1. Third-Party Service Providers

CRI may use third-party vendors to facilitate text messaging services. Such providers are contractually required to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards.

  1. Modification or Termination

CRI may modify or discontinue its text messaging program at any time. Continued participation after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised SMS Terms.

  1. Governing Law

These SMS Terms are governed by the same governing law provisions applicable to your primary engagement agreement with CRI, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
